Sacred to the memory of the
Rev. George Mortimer A.M.
late of Queens College Cambridge, and Rector of Thornhill.
who departed this life June 15th 1844 in the 61st year of his age.
He preached with fidelity the glad tidings of salvation during a period of 33 years,
nearly 12 of which were spent in this Parish, and died universally
respected and deeply lamented.
And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me write Blessed are the dead which die in the
Lord from henceforth saith the spirit that they may rest from their labour and
Their works do follow them. Rev. XIV.13 He being dead speaketh Heb.XI.4.
Blessed are those servants who the Lord when he cometh shall find watching. Luke XII.37

Mary, relict of the Rev. George Mortimer
who departed this life October 30th 1860.
in the 78th year of her age.
She served faithfully her Heavenly Master was truly a help meet for her husband ready to every
good work and died in perfect peace regretted by all who knew her especially the sick and the poor.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalm CXVI.15
also, Louisa, second daughter of the above,
who died April 3rd 1846, in the 29th year of her age.
The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed
in us. Romans VIII.18
also, Phebe,
third daughter of the above
wo died October 15th 1859, in the 42nd. year of her age.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and he that winneth souls is wise. Proverbs XI.30
also, George, infant son of Herbert and Sophia H Mortimer.
who died August 18th 1860, aged 13 months.
